Studied Landscape Planning and Landscape Architecture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. Gained her doctorate at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin at the Institute for Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences. Spent time researching abroad at the Università di Bologna, Italy, the Columbia University in the City of New York, USA and at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) in Bangalore, India.
