Over 25 years ago, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia initiated a special format of cooperative regional development called REGIONALE. The ILS has provided scientific support for this successful format since its beginnings and acted as a scientific and organisational supporter to the state government. The current project continues this tradition. In 2024, the format is in a transition phase from the current REGIONALE 2025 in South Westphalia and the Bergisches Rheinland to a prospective new call for applications.
The REGIONALE format is designed as an instrument that can respond flexibly to current action requirements. Changing conditions always require and allow the format structure to be adapted. The accompanying research from 2021 to 2023 therefore aimed to identify the need for readjustment and corresponding adaptation requirements for the further development of the format. Based on the Memorandum 1.0, specific recommendations for action were developed for the further development of the format. The process of perspective calls for applications is being prepared on the basis of this preliminary work. The findings will also be published in scientific journals.
