Creating equal living conditions is a key objective of spatial and regional development in Hesse. The project examined socio-economic and spatial disparities across the state and assessed the preparedness of its regions for future challenges such as climate change, demographic change, and digital transformation. Based on a comprehensive indicator framework, the study analysed regional differences and identified areas with distinct development opportunities and challenges.
The ILS developed an indicator-based regional disparities report and carried out spatial analyses to identify regional patterns and typologies across Hesse. Building on these findings, the project formulated policy recommendations to support equal living conditions and strengthen the long-term resilience and development prospects of the state's municipalities.
