Data basis for corporate mobility in the skilled crafts sector for MobilityHub Handwerk Nordrhein-Westfalen
Client:West German Chamber of Crafts/ MobilityHub Handwerk Nordrhein-Westfalen
Partner(s):Participating Chambers of Skilled Crafts in North Rhine-Westphalia
Time frame:06/2026 – 12/2026

The project develops a practical and durable set of instruments for collecting, analysing and using mobility-related data in craft businesses. At the outset, interviews are conducted with experts from academia and practice as well as with representatives of craft businesses. These interviews serve to systematically capture existing knowledge, advisory approaches and operational requirements and to derive specifications for the instruments to be developed.

The project focuses on the specific mobility requirements of small and medium-sized craft businesses, including employees’ commuting patterns, customer and business travel, material transport, changing work locations and the accessibility of business sites. On this basis, company-specific mobility profiles will be developed and economically viable measures for mobility management tailored to the craft sector will be identified.

Existing approaches and instruments of workplace mobility management will be assessed with regard to their transferability to the craft sector and tested in selected businesses. The project will develop modular survey and participation formats, standardised evaluation procedures, company- and area-based fact sheets, and a structured database. In addition, a standardised advisory model for mobility management in the craft sector will be developed. The instruments and application materials will be prepared in such a way that MobilityHub Handwerk Nordrhein-Westfalen and the participating chambers of crafts can independently use, update and further develop them after the project has ended.
