Research projects

As part of the project “Cross-programme support for the Urban Development Funding Programme” funded by the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs, and Spatial Development (BBSR), ILS Research is providing scientific support for urban development programs in order to gain insights for their further development. The aim is to evaluate experiences from the implementation of the three funding programs and to strengthen the transfer of knowledge between the federal government, the states, and local authorities. The project is being carried out jointly by empirica AG and ILS Research. ILS Research is evaluating comparative program reports for the six funded model urban development projects in Hamburg, Saarbrücken, Duisburg, Erfurt, Rostock, and Plauen, which document innovative approaches to neighborhood and urban development that have been tested in the municipalities. In experience workshops with the model municipalities and in regular specialist and exchange formats with the federal and state governments, the implementation experiences from the model projects are reflected upon, classified according to subject area, and made available for the further development of urban development funding. In addition, the program organizes and promotes exchange between the federal transfer offices for urban development funding. This project is being carried out by ILS Research gGmbH.
