Client: | ABDA - Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists |
Time frame: | 10/2024 – 12/2024 |
As part of the debate on a potential pharmacy reform, special regulations or relaxations in regulation are being considered for regions classified as "underserved." A current indicator of "underserved" areas is the distance (in road kilometers) from a given area to the nearest public pharmacy. To assess the potential impact of the reform, information about the respective "underserved" areas is required.
For the ABDA – Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists, this research project aims to identify areas underserved by public pharmacies using spatial analyses and based on publicly available geodata. At the same time, the population in these areas will be calculated. Spatial analysis based on quantitative data enables the precise localization of underserved areas and thereby strengthens the scientific foundation for evidence-based decisions intended to reduce such underprovision.
