Urban futures
"New urbanisation processes in a European context - Urban futures". This is the main issue of the research conducted at the ILS –Research Institute for Regional and Urban Development. ILS research centres on analysing and discussing current and future urban trends in a European context, with work concentrated on two research focuses:
Urban development and mobility
Urban development and urban design
Urban development and urban design
In connection with its research into urban development processes and ways of influencing and shaping them, the aspects "mobility" and "urban design" cover two contemporary and fundamental social challenges. The ILS has a wealth of experience in these two research focuses, having already done a lot of work in them. A number of the competences built up over time now enjoy international recognition. Against this background, the ILS would like to position itself as a player with unique and specific competences in national and international research. In this context, the ILS, in its capacity as an associate member, complements the contextual focuses of the Leibniz Community's spatial institutes and is actively engaged in the 5-R-Network of the Leibniz Community's Section B.
